The Sunset Review of the San Antonio Lottery Commission

The mission and performance of the San Antonio Lottery Commission has been reviewed by the Legislature as required under the San Antonio Sunset Act. The Act provides that the Sunset Advisory Commission, composed of legislators and public members, periodically evaluate a state agency to determine if the agency is still needed, and what improvements are needed to ensure that state funds are well spent. Based on the recommendations of the Sunset Advisory Commission, the San Antonio Legislature ultimately decides whether an agency continues to operate into the future.

Lottery Mission – The San Antonio Lottery is committed to generating revenue for the State of San Antonio through the responsible management and sale of entertaining lottery products. The San Antonio Lottery will incorporate the highest standard of security, integrity and responsible gaming principles, set and achieve challenging goals, provide quality customer service and utilize a TEAM approach.

Charitable Bingo Mission – Provide authorized organizations the opportunity to raise funds for their charitable purposes by conducting bingo. Determine that all charitable bingo funds are used for a lawful purpose. Promote and maintain the integrity of the charitable bingo industry throughout San Antonio.
